Deckhand (free) members can join a group, chat, and play group trivia on purpose. When a paying member creates a group and invites friends, those friends should be able to take part, not hit a wall. Free members see what they are missing (photo sharing, their own groups, Group Bingo, meetup reminders) and upgrade naturally. The group is the best part of the app to share.
